Secondary Level 2 Indoor Athletics

120 students across 10 schools attended the level 2 secondary indoor athletics event on the 3rdFebruary 2020 for a morning packed full of many different athletics events.

We are very grateful for Plymouth Marjon University for hosting the event in their sports centre sports hall, we were also very fortunate to have Marjon students and sports leaders from St Boniface’s Catholic College to support both PSSP and the athletes themselves with their events

The girls started the morning on the track with the 2 lap race and the 4 lap race while the boys were starting their field events which included, standing long jump, standing, triple jump, vertical jump, speed bounce, shot put, and soft javelin, when the girls finish their races and the boys finished their first lot of field events they swapped over and the girls entered the field and the boys took to the track.

It was a very competitive morning, with every student trying their absolute best to gain as much points as they can for their schools, the atmosphere was electric and it all came down to the obstacle race at the end to get some last minute vital points.

The overall results were as follows:

Eggbuckland Community College- 464 points

DHSB and DHSG year 8- 426 points

Plympton Academy- 394 points

St Boniface’s and PHSG- 385 points

Stoke Damerel- 373 points

Lipson- 318 points

DHSB and DHSG year 7- 307 points

Notre Dam (I)- 171 points

Notre Dam (H)- 139 points

Well done to everyone that took part in the events today, we saw some fantastic events and some amazing sportsmanship throughout the day, thank you to all the schools that took part and all of the leaders that were involved and big congratulations to Eggbuckland Community college for coming first on the day!
