Primary & Special Schools Football 28.02.2024

Wednesday 28th February 2024 – Through the rain and cold, nothing dampened our spirits today for the termly PSSP Inclusive Football event. 7 schools came prepared to take on the weather and each other in our friendly Football event which is aimed at promoting teamwork, respect and having a whole lot of fun. Leigham, Thornbury, Hyde Park, Old Priory, St. Matthew’s, Widewell and Pennycross arrived prepared and excited. We play a round-robin style event with 5 points awarded for a win, 3 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss. As always at these events, I was supported by the amazing team of sports leaders from Stoke Damerel Secondary school: these talented leaders referee all of the games, keep the scores and coach the children. At every event, numerous teachers from the Primary schools comment on how incredible they are with the children so I would like to say a huge thank you once again to all of you and thank you to Miss Crowe for making sure this is always organised for us. Once all of the games are played, we collate the scores (back in the warm) and announce our winners… Congratulations to Thornbury Primary school who were our overall winners today and to Old Priory who were very close runners up. Well done to everyone who took part, I really hope you enjoyed it and would be keen to come back. Our next event is on Wednesday 24th March so make sure you are signed up and I look forward to seeing you all again.
