PSSP Inclusion New Age Kurling 11.12.2023

Monday 11th December 2023 – Today was the second PSSP New Age Kurling event - Christmas special! Once again we had an amazing group of Sports Leaders from Tor Bridge High on hand to lead the event. We also had special guest sports leaders supporting us from Cann Bridge, who did an absolutely brilliant job! We had 5 teams with us today for festive jumpers and jingles and of course, lots of Kurling. Children from Bickleigh Down, Widewell, Leigham and Montpelier took part in our friendly competition. New Age Kurling is a target-based sport that has been adapted from curling so that it can be played indoors, on a flat surface. Each player delivers a ‘stone’ towards the target at the other end by sliding it smoothly across the floor. The score is then determined by the number of stones closest to the centre of the target. On arrival, the schools were greeted by our leaders and shown how to play. After that it was straight into it. We rotate teams often so that everyone gets to meet everyone else and play against them. These are some of my favourite events as it is great to see so many children enjoying learning something new and playing with others. I had a great afternoon – I hope you all did too! A huge thank you to our sports leaders, you were brilliant today.
