Primary & Special Schools Boccia 17.10.2023

Tuesday 17th October 2023 – This afternoon, our Tor Bridge High Sports Leaders hosted one of our PSSP Inclusion Boccia events. We had 8 teams with us today, representing Cann Bridge, Leigham, Montpelier, Widewell, St. Matthew’s and Holy Cross. As the schools arrived, they were welcomed by our leaders and introduced to the sport; Boccia is a Paralympic sport that is played from a seated position. It is a target game that involves accuracy and strategy and more importantly, is a lot of fun. Although this is a competitive sport, this is never our focus at these events; our goal is to have a lot of fun meeting new people and learning some new skills. Once underway, the nerves soon cleared and were replaced by smiles. At the end of the event, everyone who took part received a certificate and we discussed just how important practice can be when we play something like this as we all agreed that the more we played, the more accurate we became. Thank you to all of the staff who brought their teams along today, I hope you enjoyed it as well. For more inclusion events, check out the PSSP website.
