Primary & Special Schools Boccia 10.10.2023

Tuesday 10th October 2023 – Another great morning of smiles and sports at Plympton Academy today. Our sports leaders hosted 7 Primary teams for some PSSP Inclusion Boccia. Children from Holy Cross, Plympton St. Maurice, Old Priory, Eggbuckland Vale and Hooe came along to take part in our friendly event, aimed at developing new skills and fostering social connections. Boccia is a Paralympic sport that is played from a seated position. It is a target game that involves accuracy and strategy and more importantly, is a lot of fun.  After a quick introduction to the activity, we got underway with our competition. We played a round robin style event so that each school played everyone else. Speaking with all of the teams, we agreed that this is definitely one of those sports where practice can make a big difference: the more we played, the more accurate we became. More importantly, when I asked at the end, all of the children said that they would definitely come back again to play so a morning well spent and a great effort from our Plympton Academy leaders – thank you all. Check out the PSSP website for more inclusive events.
