Tor Bridge Family Y3/4 Cricket 2023

Wednesday 24th May 2023 – Glorious weather today for our annual Y3/4 Cricket festival at Tor Bridge High. 7 of our talented sports leaders hosted our fun event for children from Bickleigh Down, Thornbury and Montpelier. We had a mix of experience on the field today with some children having played lots of Cricket before and some children for whom this was their first competitive experience. Although we do keep scores at this event, more than anything we aim to have a lot of fun so as soon as we were underway, all first-time nerves were forgotten. At this event, each team starts on 200 points and then aim to score more runs, while avoiding losing points for wickets taken/being run out etc. We played a round-robin format today which meant that everyone played all of the other teams: 5 points are awarded for a win, 3 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss. At the end of the event (and after a lot of head scratching maths for me), the results were announced… Congratulations to Bickleigh Down ‘A’ team who were the overall winners today, having won all of their games. Well done to everyone who took part, you all played really well and the bowling in particular improved with every match. I really hope you all enjoyed it? If you did, why not check out some Cricket teams in your local area? Thank you to our Tor Bridge Sports Leaders who did a brilliant job of making sense of those complicated scoresheets, and thank you as well to all of the staff for bringing your teams along – I hope you enjoyed it too.
