Primary & Special Schools New Age Kurling #2

24/03/2023 – Round 2 of our PSSP Primary New Age Kurling events took place at Plympton Academy this morning. With another 7 teams attending, today we had children representing Old Priory, Chaddlewood, Widewell, Bickleigh Down, Holy Cross and Cann Bridge. New Age Kurling is a target-based sport that has been adapted from curling so that it can be played indoors, on a flat surface. Each player delivers a ‘stone’ towards the target at the other end by sliding it smoothly across the floor. The score is then determined by the number of stones closest to the centre of the target. After some time for practice, we got straight into it. These inclusive events are all about meeting new people, trying different activities and most importantly, having some fun. When the children first arrive, there are always some nervous smiles, understandably, but once we are in it, it is fantastic to look around at so many beaming faces. I particularly enjoyed how all of the teams introduced themselves today when they moved to play someone new. I just love these events and I really hope everyone who took part today did too. Check out the PSSP website for even more inclusive events.
