Primary & Special Schools New Age Kurling #1

23/03/2023 – An exciting afternoon at Notre Dame today for our first in a series of PSSP Primary Inclusion New Age Kurling events. Children from 7 schools came along to take part in this target-based sport that has been adapted from curling so that it can be played indoors, on a flat surface. Today we had  children representing St. Peter’s RC, St. Paul’s RC, St. Edward’s CofE, Holy Cross, Pennycross, Weston Mill and Keyham Barton. On arrival, the teams were greeted by a fab team of sports leaders from Notre Dame and introduced to the game. In New Age Kurling, each player delivers a ‘stone’ towards the target at the other end by sliding it smoothly across the floor. The score is then determined by the number of stones closest to the centre of the target. After some time for practice, we got straight into it. Today’s event was all about meeting new people, trying a new sport and most importantly, having some fun. When I asked at the end if they would all like to come back again to play again, it was a resounding yes so I think I can safely say that they all enjoyed it. Thank you to the brilliant sports leaders – you really made this event a special one for all who came along. Check out the PSSP website for all upcoming events.
