PSSP Dance Festival 2023

What a show!

Over the last few months, schools have been working incredible hard choreographing and polishing their routines for the dance show. Beechwood, College Road, Leigham, Montpelier and St Matthew’s came to the Quad theatre at Marjon’s to perform their dances. A fantastic 18 routines took to the stage from solo’s to group dances and were choreographed by staff and students.

On arrival dance crew’s took part in five different taster activities, learning how to create different shapes, how to apply an emotion or understanding of an object or letter into a dance, memory games and affirmation colouring. Each dancer coloured in an affirmation picture to create a giant board of positive quotes, vibes and words to encourage the dancers.

After a great warm up led by the Marjon’s students, it was time to have the dress rehearsal! We went through the full running order with each group taking to the stage to perform. This gave them a chance to get used to the space, rehearse their dance and show the rest of the performers what they have been working hard on.

To finish off the morning, the group dances were then performed again with great support from the audience clapping along. Then teams had the chance to take some pictures in the photo booth and got presented with a lovely trophy to take back and display proudly in school.
