PSSP Primary Dodgeball Festival 2023

This year was the first year of the PSSP Primary dodgeball festival held at Plymouth Life Centre. Dodgeball is one of the most played sports in primary school so we knew this event would be popular, so popular that it was fully booked before Christmas! Unfortunately, we had a few school’s dropout leading up to the event and on the day however that didn’t spoil it as each team still played plenty of matches. This event was not a competitive event therefore scores were not taken and there were no ‘winners. Teams were given a brief introduction to the rules before the matches begun. Each game consisted of three x 2 minute games so the action was short and sharp. The games were centrally times and we used 3 courts that teams could rotate on. There were 11 schools that turned up at the event, each team bringing 10 players with 6 on a court at a time. It was clear to see that the skillset of the children improved massively as the event went on. There were some really impressive dodges’ and catches to bring teammates back into the game. The event ran for nearly 2 hours and there were some very red smiling faces. All participants left with a certificate. We hope to run this event again next year and a huge thank you to the young leaders from Devonport High School for Boys for refereeing the games.
