Primary & Special Schools Football 01/03/2023

Wednesday 01st March 2023 – A fantastic turnout for our PSSP Primary Inclusion Football! 10 schools brought their teams along today; there were children representing Leigham, St. Matthew’s, Old Priory, Widewell, Bickleigh Down, Holy Cross, Montpelier, Prince Rock, St. Andrew’s and Cann Bridge. At this competition, we play a round-robin style event with 5 points awarded for a win, 3 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss. This event really isn’t all about winning though as our main focus is on having fun and demonstrating some excellent sportsmanship through the School Games values of Respect and Teamwork. Once again, I was incredibly fortunate to be supported by the fantastic sports leaders from Stoke Damerel, who refereed all of our games/kept the scores and supported all of the teams – thank you all so much! It certainly was a close one today, we had so many games that finished in a draw and so many teams that finished on the same points. In the end we had to look at the number of goals scored by each team to work out the final positions. With 10 teams attending, there were 9 games each to play and then we finally got back into the warm to announce the results… Congratulations to St. Andrews who were our overall winners today – they finished on the same points as Leigham but in the end had scored just 1 more goal! Congratulations as well to Leigham for such a close finish to take second place. Full table of results below. Well done to all of the teams who took part today, I hope that you enjoyed it and would be keen to come along next term. Our next event is coming up on Wednesday 03rd May 2023 so if you would like to come along, head to the PSSP events page. I look forward to seeing you all at an event soon.
