Personal Best Inclusion Archery 2023

Tuesday 07th February 2023 – What a fantastic morning of sport at Thornbury Primary school. Yesterday, I had the privilege to work with some of the brilliant sports leaders from Y5 and Y6 and today they hosted the Connect Academy Trust & PSSP Inclusion Archery event. 5 schools from the trust all brought teams along to take part in our friendly competition, aimed at developing social connections, team work and self-belief. 25 children took part today and our 5 Thornbury sports leaders took the reins and did an amazing job. They showed all of the children how to load the bows and how to aim and gave them some tips while they had a few practice shots. Then it was time for our personal best challenge: how many points can you score with 3 arrows and then on your next go, can you beat your own score? When the teams first arrived, there was definitely a lot of nervous energy but this soon disappeared, replaced instead with smiles and determined faces as so many were focused on hitting that illusive bullseye. Well done to everyone who took part today, I really hope you all enjoyed it. Thank you to Mrs Phillips and Ms Ayrton for all your hard work setting this up and a huge thank you to our sports leaders – a well organised and fun event thanks to your hard work.
