PSSP Primary Inclusion Boccia 06.01.2023

Friday 06th January 2023 – Our first Inclusion event for 2023 and what a lovely morning it was. 3 of our fantastic sports leaders from Plympton Academy hosted 5 teams from PSSP primary schools for a friendly Boccia event. Teams from Drake, Leigham, Eggbuckland Vale and Chaddlewood all came along to learn some new skills and play against other children. Boccia is a Paralympic sport that is played from a seated position. It is a target game that involves accuracy and strategy and more importantly, is a lot of fun.  After a quick introduction to the activity, we got underway with our competition. We played a round robin style event so that each school played everyone else. Speaking with all of the teams, we agreed that this is definitely one of those sports where practice can make a big difference: the more we played, the more accurate we became. We soon had some close games and even the staff were keen to get involved. I would like to say a huge thank you to Molly, Harley and Charlie for being such fantastic leaders for us today – you were brilliant with the children and everyone had a great time because you were so organised and did such a great job leading the games – thank you!
