RC & Tamar Cluster Indoor Athletics

Four teams took on the challenge of the Indoor athletics cluster competition at the life centre last week. There was a lot of excitement on arrival to represent their school and compete in a competition outside of school. Each person had been given a maximum of three track and two field events to take part in. There were a range of different relays to race; running various lengths either in a pair or group of four. On the field, there were long jump, triple jump, speed bounce and chest push.

The girls and boys took turns on the track and field, racing against the other schools that attended. For those waiting their turn, they had the important role to encourage their team and support them to not give up. This was definitely a highlight of the event, as you could see the determination in the young athletes face as they heard they name being called, and the enthusiasm this brought to do their best for the team.

There were many close results, with a few photo finishes but thanks to the super helpful leaders from St Boniface and Marjons, nothing was missed.

Here are our field record breakers for the day:

Standing long jump: Girls- 1.5m, Emily (Holy Cross) Boys- 2.00m, Eugene/ Issac (Holy Cross)

Triple Jump: Girls- 4.00m, Willow (St Paul’s) Boys- 4.23m, Oscar (Keyham Barton)

Speed Bounce: Girls- 45, Macey (St Paul’s) Boys- 40, Sam/Yosab (Holy Cross/ Keyham Barton)

Chest Push: Girls 6.25m, Esme (Holy Cross) Boys- 6.75m, Oscar (Keyham Barton)

Thank you all for attending, we hope you had a lovely time!
