Primary & Special Schools Football 09/11/2022

Wednesday 09^th November 2022 – A great turn out for our termly PSSP Primary & Special Schools Football. 8 schools brought their teams along today – we had children representing Austin Farm, St. Matthew’s, Leigham, Old Priory, Woodfield, Bickleigh Down, Holy Cross and Montpelier. For the majority of children taking part today, this was their first time with us so I am hoping that they had a great time. This event is a little different from others in that we don’t focus on winning. Instead, these events are all about celebrating Teamwork, Respect and Self Belief. We play a round-robin style event so that every school gets to play all of the others. We do keep the scores and points are awarded but today is mainly about having some fun and enjoying being physically active. Once again, I was supported by a team of sports leaders from Stoke Damerel: these young people volunteered their time to referee and score our games but also to coach their children – as always, they were absolutely amazing! Several member of staff from the Primary schools commented on how good you were, so thank you so much and thank you to Miss Crowe for organising them for me. At the end of the morning, when we are all red faced and puffed out, we get together to clap and cheer while everyone receives their well earned certificates. Well done to everyone who took part today, you played brilliantly and I hope you all enjoyed it. Congratulations to Bickleigh Down, who finished in top spot overall. I hope you would all be keen to come again? Our next event is on Wednesday 18^th January 2023, so I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.
