Plympton Family Cross Country 2022

Tuesday 04th October 2022—It was windy but dry as Old Priory and Yealmpstone Farm went head to head in our family warm-up Cross Country event. As well as show casing some of the vast talent that our young people have, this was an opportunity for us to celebrate some of the schools games values: Self Belief and Determination. We had 32 children taking part this afternoon and every one of them was determined to do their best and finish the course. It is quite a deceptive course and can be challenging to complete the 2 laps: for the Y3/4 races, the course is just under 1 mile and for the Y5/6 runners, it is just over 1 mile with the finish line being up hill for everyone—who would do that?! Well done to every one of you—all of your teachers and family that came to cheer you on were so proud of you and they were great races to watch. As the runners came over the line they were given a place card and these were collated by their staff—the top 4 runners from all schools were counted and the school with the overall lowest score for the boys and girls were the winners. Congratulations to Old Priory who were the overall winners in all 4 categories today—an excellent performance all round.  Congratulations as well to Yealmpstone Farm as your runners dug deep and stayed with them all the way through—you should all be very proud of yourselves. A full table of results can be found below. A huge well done to all of the runners today, I hope you enjoyed the event. I would like to say a special thank you to the young leaders from Heles school who volunteered to be our marshals and hares—you did a great job, thank you.

See you all at our next family event coming up soon.
