Primary Inclusion Archery 2022

Friday 10th June 2022 – Another fantastic Inclusion event this morning led by some Y5 sports leaders from Old Priory Junior Academy. 6 teams from PSSP schools across the city came along to take part in our Primary & Special Schools Archery festival. Children from Plympton St. Maurice, Woodfield, Hyde Park, Holy Cross, Yealmpstone Farm and Morice Town all came along to learn new skills and compete against each other. On arrival, each school was welcomed by their leader for the morning and were introduced to the technique and coaching points. After a couple of practice rounds it was on to the competition. The challenge was to score as many points as possible with 3 arrows over 6 rounds. While they were waiting for their turn, there were Archery worksheets for the children to complete and a ‘school crest’ challenge. After the highest score competition, each of the leaders took their teams through some other fun games, focusing on number bonds and continuing to develop accuracy. I would like to say a huge thank you to the young leaders for all their hard work today – all of the children said just how much fun they had this morning. Thank you to all of the staff for bringing your teams along, I hope you enjoyed watching our new archers as much as I did. I look forward to seeing you all at another event soon.
