St. Peter's RC New Age Kurling 12.11.2021

A lovely morning spent at St. Peters RC today. It was my pleasure to introduce Y3/4/5&6 to the game of New Age Kurling. This target-based sport has been adapted from curling so that it can be played indoors, on a flat surface.  There are 4 players on a team and each player delivers a ‘stone’ towards the target at the other end by sliding it smoothly across the floor. The score is then determined by the number of stones closest to the centre of the target.

As each group came along, we went through the aim of the game and the rules and then we were off. There was definitely an excited atmosphere as the more the children played, the more accurate and competitive the games became. It just goes to show that practice is indeed very important: in the beginning, a lot of the stones were not making it onto the target but the more we played, the more bullseyes we hit.

Well done to all of the children who took part today, you picked it up really quickly and got really good. I hope you all enjoyed it today and would be keen to play again.
