A welcome new approach to school sport

The Prime Minister has announced a bold new vision for school sport, introducing plans for new School Sport Partnerships and an Enrichment Framework.

The announcement also sets a clear commitment for equal access and the protection of two hours of high-quality physical education for every child each week, along with the introduction of new ‘sport profiles’ that outline each school’s sport and enrichment provision.

We welcome this announcement as the latest Active Lives Children and Young People Survey Report highlights persistent and significant challenges in how children and young people engage with sport and physical activity, reinforcing the urgent need for more inclusive, youth-led and enjoyable movement experiences:

U14 Devon Hockey State School Hockey Festival

The first of its kind in many years. We are excited to bring this event to life and help grow hockey participation across the West.

Stoke Damerel has kindly offered to host the festival on Monday, 17th November, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. The event will feature single gender or mixed, U14, 7-a-side hockey.

Participation in this first festival is free of charge, as we are keen to encourage as many schools as possible to take part. For those that request it, we will look to provide hockey sticks, but individuals must have shin pads and gum shields.

Bold new vision for safe sport unveiled

The first findings of the Safe Sport project have been published

A bold new approach to ensure the safety of everyone involved in sport at all levels across the United Kingdom is needed, according to a major new report.

The Safe Sport report is the result of a project involving us and the other UK Sports Councils, which emerged from a shared recognition of the challenges faced by our sector in keeping people safe.

The School Games Organiser Network review

Sport England head of children and young people explains the findings of the latest review to help the younger among us be more active, have equal access and a positive attitude towards sport and physical activity.
