Primary PE and Sport Premium secured for 2025/26

We are joining with colleagues from across the education sector in welcoming the continuation of the Primary PE and sport premium funding. We understand the significant and ongoing challenges around the public finances, and this marks an important recognition of the value of PE and our workforce in delivering the best for young people in a time where engagement in physical activity has stagnated and hours for teaching PE have been squeezed.

Funding remains at its current level, £320million for the academic year and will continue to be paid to all eligible schools. The funding will be paid in two tranches, one this autumn, with the following payment be paid in spring 2026.

The Primary PE and sport premium expenditure reporting return opened on Wednesday 11 June at 9am and will close on Thursday 31 July at 5pm. PE and sport premium for primary schools guidance is available on GOV.UK.
