PSSP Year 7 End of Season Netball Tournament

The final netball event of the season was loud, exciting and an absolute thriller with two of the final games going to a ‘golden goal’ situation.  This was the first competitive event for the Year 7 teams as they had previously played coached games in the Central Venue league.  The players rose to the challenge with some great individual and team performances.  The 13 teams were split into two pools to play their matches.  Following this we had the top team from each pool playing the runners up from the opposite pool.  During this stage the match between Plymstock and DHSG Lightning went to a golden goal after the final score was 1-1 at the end of normal time.  DHSG were quick to win the toss-up and moved the ball straight up the court to score.  Plymstock then played Coombe Dean in the 3^rd/4^th play off and won 7-2 to take the bronze medal.  The final saw Hele’s take on DHSG Lightning in a thrilling game which ended at 4-4 and so we headed for another ‘golden goal’ ending.  Hele’s won the toss-up and moved the ball to their goal but were unable to score before the DHSG team worked the ball down the court towards the goal.  In a tense few moments, DHSG scored to take the victory.  Well done to all those who attended and we are looking forward to seeing you at our summer sports after Easter.
