PSSP Secondary Cross-Country at Eggbuckland 

It was another great evening for the second of our Secondary Cross-Country Events kindly hosted by Eggbuckland and joined by, DHSB, Notre Dame and Tor Bridge. We had individual winners from the schools across the age groups; Year 7 Girl Edie (Eggbuckland), Year 7 Boy Sebby (DHSB), Year 8/9 Girl Abi (Notre Dame), Year 8/9 Boys Fin (Tor Bridge) Year 10/11 Girls Lilly (Notre Dame) Year 10 & 11 Boy Jayden (Eggbuckland).

In the team event, Eggbuckland won the Year 7 Girls and Boys Team Events with and Notre Dame winning the Year 8 & 9 Girls Event and DHSB winning the Year 8 & 9 Boys.

Well done to all those that have taken part over the past two weeks.

PSSP Year 9 End of Season Netball Tournament 

This week we saw 8 teams from 7 schools come together for the Year 9 Netball Festival.  DHSG, Notre Dame, PHSG, Plympton Academy, Plymstock, Stoke Damerel and Tor Bridge.  There was a range of experience amongst the teams but all matches were highly competitive and played in a great spirit of respect, teamwork and challenge.  Well done to DHSG Lightning who were unbeaten in the event, followed by DHSG Thunder and PHSG and Plympton Academy taking home the bronze medals.

Next week host the Year 8 Festival on Wednesday 19th March at the Life Centre from 2.30-5.30pm.

CPD Asthma Workshop 

 

Workshop Date: Wednesday, 19th March 2025.


Workshop Time: The event will take place between 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM.

What to Expect from this Workshop: 
In this session, we will cover the basics of asthma, including what you need to know about exercising with asthma. The session is designed to give you the confidence to support people with asthma in being physically active safely in your setting. No medical knowledge is needed for this session, and there will be plenty of time for questions. The course will focus on children with asthma.

Who is Delivering this Workshop? 
Dr. Elinor Jones is an A&E doctor at Musgrove Park Hospital with an interest in Sports Medicine. She has worked in a number of specialties, including paediatrics and respiratory medicine, and is currently undertaking a Sport and Exercise Medicine master's degree.

The FA KS4 Pilot  - The Step into Coaching Programme

The new KS4 coaching programme will provide girls in your school with a high-quality introduction into the skills of coaching, build their confidence and inspire and prepare them to undertake their Introduction to Coaching Football Qualification should they wish to.

It will also equip them with the basic skills to facilitate fun and engaging football activity to their peers, or to younger year groups and encourage them to get involved in further delivery roles in their local community football clubs.  

What does the pilot involve?

Here is some key information regarding what the commitment will look like from your recruited schools:

Schools that sign up to the pilot must be able to:

  • Attend ONE of the following 90-minute online training events to learn about the programme on either
    • 18th March @ 3.30pm โ€“ 5.00pm - Register HERE.
    • 20th March @3.30pm โ€“ 5.00pm - Register HERE.
  • Have a dedicated teacher to deliver the pilot programme in your school between March- June 2025. Teachers will have the choice to deliver the pilot in 1 of the following ways:

1 x Day long leadership programme

OR

5 x 50 minute modules to be delivered across several weeks.

  • Facilitate a session visit at your school for an England Football or Youth Sport Trust member of staff to come and see your session in action.
  • Take part in a short survey and feedback session after your delivery is complete to share your experiences.

What will schools receive?

Schools choosing to take part in the programme will be provided with a fully funded kit and equipment pack, alongside all the resources needed to deliver the programme.
