ISSUE 025

Introducing the next phase of This Girl Can

This Girl Can is launching a new campaign phase, ‘Belonging Starts With Inclusion’, to agitate the change needed for all women to feel they belong in sport and physical activity.

We're kicking this off with an activation in Birmingham on 26 February, so look out for posts on our This Girl Can and Sport England social media channels and please share and engage to show your support.

Then on 27 March we’ll be sharing the research and insights that are shaping this phase, as well as sector resources, in a free webinar from 11am-12pm - BOOK YOUR SPACE

PSSP Year 7 Basketball Festival @ Life Centre

On Wednesday 27th February 2025 we hosted this event with 7 teams from All Saints, Coombe Dean, DHSB, Plympton Academy, St. Boniface’s, Stoke Damerel and Tor Bridge attending.  The aim of the event was to offer many students the first opportunity to take part in competitive games.  Over 80 boys took part in coached games in order to develop and spark a love for the game.  Thank you to all those that took part.

Table Cricket Finals Day | Wednesday 2nd April - Exeter University

Devon Cricket Foundation are getting in contact with an Expression of Interest form for the Table Cricket Competition that we run in conjunction with the Lord’s Taverners.

This is one single date at Exeter University (County wide final) in Exeter on Wednesday 2nd April.

Please see the note from the Lord’s Taverners around qualifying criteria.

It is important to bear in mind that while table cricket is now pan-disability, it was originally developed to provide an opportunity for young people with severe physical disabilities to compete in a team sport. We therefore strongly encourage schools to enter a team with a variety and balance of disabilities to ensure that the groups who benefit most from table cricket are given this opportunity.

Attached is an Expression of Interest form, that we would like you to fill out, whether you are wanting to enter or not. One of the reasons we would like you to fill out this form even if you are not attending, is so that we can have a better understanding of any barriers that are preventing attendance.
