Virtual Gymnastics Competition 

Who is the Event For?:

  • Mainstream Year 3 and 4
  • Mainstream Year 5 and 6
  • Primary SEND and Special Schools
  • Mainstream Year 7 and 8
  • Secondary SEND and Special Schools

What’s the Intent?

  • Build confidence to engage in physical activity and try new sports and physical activities
  • Develop and improve physical fitness (cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, body composition, muscular strength, muscular endurance, posture, balance and core stability)
  • Develop fundamental movement skills (Locomotor, Stability, Manipulative).
  • Opportunity to represent your school for the first time
  • Raise self-esteem, self-confidence and self-worth (think positively about themselves and how they perceive the world around them)

Brief Description of the Event:

There are five sequences on offer for mainstream students based on core skills which get progressively harder, with the Rookie sequence being the easiest, to the Platinum sequence being the most challenging. There are body shapes and adaptive core skills which get progressively harder for mainstream SEND and special school students. If these are easily achieved children can move on to more challenging sequences starting with Rookie. Decide the sequence you are going to practice and participate in. Check the gymnastic skills you need to be able to complete the routine and make sure you can perform all the skills individually before attempting the whole sequence.

Foulston Park Update 

The countdown is well and truly under way for the doors to open to The Hub at Foulston Park.

It is a key feature of the multi-million-pound Foulston Park project which is transforming the former Brickfields Sports Centre and surrounding site into a centre of sporting excellence and community facilities.

The Hub will be part of the network of nine Wellbeing Hubs across the city which are designed to deliver health and wellbeing services based on your needs and those of your family and friends.

We will shortly be launching a range of special deals and introductory offers on membership subscriptions for our state-of-the-art new gym opening at The Hub.

The fully rejuvenated gym will provide a comprehensive suite of brand-new, top class equipment - including cardio machines, free weights and weight machines - to support your fitness goals, whether you are new to a gym setting or an experienced fitness professional.

Site preparation works have continued, including the arrival and installation of temporary offices and welfare facilities for site workers.

The first phase of works on the car park are also scheduled to start in the second week of February, with completion expected by mid-April.
