Year 7 Girls Love Rugby Day

I am very happy to say that we are hosting a Year 7 Girls - Love Rugby Event at Topsham RFC, 28th February, 10am - 2pm. This was a fantastic day last time and we would love to see as many of you there as possible in a great year for women's and girls' rugby with the World Cup being hosted in England & Exeter. On that note we are combining Devon School Rugby Manager's with myself and Ella and also extend a warm welcome to Jane Clark, Somerset SRM and Somerset schools who would like to attend.

Format of the Day:

  • We are very grateful for the help of the Exeter Chiefs Community team plus we are hopeful for a few of the women's Premiership squad will be in attendance as well.
  • We will brief everyone on the format of the day together, split into 6-8 groups for a coaching carousel of activities including handling, touch games, conditioned games, SAQ, kicking and hopefully all being well with conditions the high ball machine! Approx 10-12 mins per station.
  • Lunch / Break - please bring packed lunch and plenty of fluids!
  • Afternoon session - We will split into touch / T1 Rugby friendly games
  • Housekeeping - please ensure you bring a first aid kit for your school. Photography - we would love to capture the day at points, if you have any pupils not able to be photographed make us aware

A reminder that the focus is fun and enjoyment, we would like as many girls as possible to have a positive and impactful experience of rugby and we will have a range of players including those completely new to the game.

Numbers - most filled a mini bus last year but we are very 'more the merrier' in our approach!

Young People's Research Into Social             Isolation Workshop

A group of young people have been working with Connecting Youth UK, Fotonow and Belong in Plymouth to deepen their understanding on how to prevent social isolation in young people. They have now created a 15 minute film and workshop to be able to build conversations with leaders and members of Community, Statutory Services and Health about how this insight that they have gathered can be used to influence decision making in the future. They will then take their additional findings from discussions with those of us working in Plymouth to a workshop in March at Westminster and attended by MPs.

They warmly welcome you to the following workshops:

  • Tuesday 4th February 6pm-8pm at the Plot, Union Street, Plymouth.
  • Tuesday 25th February 6pm-8pm, City College Plymouth.

With a third one at the Council House, Plymouth during half term, day time (date and time to be confirmed).

You can book for 4th Feb at the following link https://www.plymouthoctopus.org/event-booking/Young_Peoples_Research_Into_Social__Feb_25/r/recj6EsaGEvbRmXO1
