Barclays Game On - GO Lead registration extension

Good news! The Barclays Game On - GO Lead registration window has been extended to account for the varied half-term holidays across the country. However, we anticipate the remaining places filling up very quickly so don’t wait to register, sign up today on the link below.

REGISTER

Please note – once all the spaces have been allocated to schools, you will not be able to register for the full GO Lead experience this academic year. Having said this, we do still want to allow an opportunity for your girls to feel empowered and develop their leadership skills. So, this year we will also be offering a digital only version of GO Lead. This includes you, as the teacher, having access to all GO Lead resources digitally but your girls’ football activators unfortunately will not receive any kit or equipment. We hope this is an opportunity some schools will still take up to enable girls to experience this fantastic leadership programme.

Barclays Game On – GO Lead is a Key Stage 3 football leadership programme that provides girls with training to be able to perform different roles within football. GO Lead girls’ football activators will take part in three two-hour workshops titled Advocating, Delivering and Officiating. Once trained, they will have the confidence and skills to be able to create real change in their school plus deliver and officiate football opportunities to their peers. More information and key programme dates can be found below.

Launch of the FA Grassroots Strategy

The FA have launched a new landmark strategy to grow and develop grassroots football in England, titled ‘A Thriving Grassroots Game’. The strategy has been developed in collaboration with the County FA network, with County FAs adopting the same strategy framework and sharing strategic priorities over the four-year period to ensure the needs of the game are met locally.

Through the new strategy, the grassroots game will play an important role in delivering three of the four FA ‘game-changer’ priorities over the next four years. These are to create equal opportunities for women and girls, transform the pitch landscape nationally and see a game free from discrimination.

The new strategy outlines three key drivers to deliver this:

·         Support thriving community clubs – To support a network of thriving community clubs to provide a brilliant football offer to their local communities, to grow in a sustainable way, and to be well-run

·         Connect and serve participants – To improve our digital offering and deliver new online services which are personalised, easy to access and help participants to fulfil their roles and find new opportunities

·         Progress the game’s governance – To better serve all football participants through the highest governance standards, at all levels in the grassroots game
