Year 3/4 Invasion Games Festivals 2010

This week saw 12 of our primary schools take place in a series of year 3/4 invasion games festivals. The festivals took place over three days at three different venues and although the main theme was fun they turned into some very competitive skills based events.

At all three events the teams took part in single and round robin style events which included football dribbling, bench ball, dodge ball and hockey based shoot at goal.

Each team member was involved at all times scoring points for their team based on the skill levels they achieved.

Monday’s event at Stoke Damerel College was the noisiest of the three with all four teams really going for it on our dual location site due to exams. In the end it was St Andrews who took victory with a very impressive 166 points followed by Keyham Barton (143), St Peters C of E (112) and St George’s (110).

On Tuesday we headed for the very plush Esporta Health and Rackets club with all four teams running on the lovely carpeted tennis court surfaces. Again it was a noisy affair and a very close fought competition. This time St Budeaux C of E took the spoils with 113 points followed by Morice Town with 109, Whitleigh with 107 and finally Stoke Damerel with 93.

Finally Wednesday was Marine Academy Plymouth’s turn to host and again due to exams we had limited space. With four very strong teams it came down to the final games to decide the winners. This time Beechwood took home our prestigious SSCo solid gold medals with 110, second were Oakwood with 83 and finally Victoria Road ‘A’ and ‘B’ who both finished with 80 points apiece.

Well done to all who took part and a big thank you to all the leaders and staff from Stoke Damerel, Notre Dame and Marine Academy who helped out.
