With great cross country conditions this year’s Plymouth and West Devon Primary Cross Country event was one of the best yet. What is normally a very wet and windy Staddiscombe playing fields saw mild and slightly damp conditions host 50 of our local primary schools.
Each school brought up to 12 of their finest cross country athletes to take part on the testing 1400 metre course with the top four from each school counting towards their team totals.
Each school were categorised depending on number of juniors on role giving six races in all, three boys and three girls.
After some excellent running displays from the athletes and some frantic inputting of results by the School Sports Partnership team athletes and their managers waited for the final results.
In the end the six categories were won by:
Minor Boys – Holberton
Minor Girls – Holberton
Inter Boys – Mary Deans
Inter Girls – Mary Deans
Major Boys – Widey Court
Major Girls – Old Priory
Also a big well done to the six race winning athletes who were:
Minor Boys - Jack B – Yealmpstone Farm
Minor Girls – Worinika Holowenn – Cathedral school
Inter Boys – Jake Anderson – Mary Deans
Inter Girls – Emma England – Hooe
Major Boys – Harry Williams-Arnold – Compton
Major Girls – Abi Baker – Goosewell
Also a big thank you to all the leaders from Coombe Dean College who marshalled the course, Keith and Jane Reed from Armada athletics network and both Plymouth School Sports Partnerships for running the event.
