Primary

• Please note these important changes regarding the Marjon 2011 tag rugby event.  Change of date: The date has now been confirmed as Friday 27th May. All bookings this year will be done online via the Sir John Hunt School Sports Partnership Website. Information regarding how to book will be sent to schools in early January. This should alleviate the numerous phone calls claiming the entry is lost in the post! Please diary entering by end of January as the entry for the competition will close end of February and places will fill up fast. The competition this year will be reduced in size to accommodate 48 rather than the normal 72 teams. This is due to building work occurring at Marjons which will limit the amount of pitches we are able to operate. We will therefore only be opening the competition to Plymouth schools as West Devon will be offered their own competition through Ivybridge. All schools irrespective of their size will be entered into the same competition (the standard was similar in both the major and minor schools competitions last year). The highest ranking 4 will represent Plymouth in the Devon finals.
• Primary team challenge day on the 24/11/09. A fantastic opportunity targeted at students with poor social skills to learn to work together with students from other schools in a range of physically and mentally challenging activities. Participants will need to wear PE Kit and bring drinks and a packed lunch with them. Places are limited to only 8 teams of 10 pupils so please don’t book late. (you may bring more than one team- please ensure you enter different team names and book more than once) The event is for year groups 5 & 6 and is being held in the Marjon Sportshall 1 and 2.Deadline for bookings is the 15/11. • Please find some information attached on 3 new programmes being run at Marjon under STARS, the new coaching programme being developed by UCP Marjon. The short courses provide pupils with a chance to receive quality coaching in our fantastic new sports centre.  The 3 programmes are hockey for years 4 – 6, Netball years 4-6 and Multi Sports age 5-8 years.  Please download the attached for further information. Secondary/FE

• The England Handball Association is once again organising the National Schools Handball Competition for Boys and girls, with a great final tournament at Aldersley Stadium the 18th of June 2011. The Tournament will consist of 2 Regional qualification rounds which will be held the 5th March and 14th of May 2011, in the North, Midlands and south of the country, the final being the 18th of June 2011.
