Primary Inclusion Archery 16.06.2022

Thursday 16th June 2022 – What a fantastic team of young leaders we had today from Tor Bridge High for our second PSSP Inclusion Archery event. 7 teams came along to Cann Bridge to take part in our fully inclusive, fun competition. Children from St. George’s C of E, Widewell, Leigham, Cann Bridge, Thornbury and Montpelier all came along to learn new skills and compete against each other. Our brilliant leaders took care of everything today: from greeting the teams in reception, showing them the correct technique to shoot the bow and arrows and leading all of the scored event. Thank you so much for all of your hard work this morning – the children absolutely loved it! One young man said that ‘this has been the best morning ever’! What a difference you have made – thank you Tor Bridge Sports Leaders! For the competitive element today, the challenge was to score as many points as possible with 3 arrows over several rounds, each time trying to better their score. While they were waiting for their turn, there were Archery worksheets for the children to complete and a ‘school crest’ challenge. After the highest score competition, each of the leaders took their teams through some other fun games, focusing on number bonds and continuing to develop accuracy. It really was a great event today and was so great to see so many children enjoying being active and taking part in a new sport. Thank you to all of the staff who brought their teams along today, I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. More PSSP Inclusion events will be heading your way in the new year so I hope to see you all then.
