Tor Bridge Family Y3/4 Cricket 2022

Monday 16th May 2022 – After a nail-biting morning of playing ‘what’s happening with the weather’ we were able to go ahead this afternoon for our annual Tor Bridge Family Y3/4 Cricket. 6 teams came along to take part in our friendly competition: Bickleigh Down, Yealmpstone Farm, Widewell, Thornbury, Montpelier and St. Matthew’s. We had a brilliant team of sports leaders on hand today to coach the children, umpire the games and undertake the complex scoring system that is Cricket. For some of the children here today this was their first time playing Cricket so there were quite a few excited nerves amongst the teams. Each team started on 200 points and were tasked with scoring as many runs as possible in 8 overs. It was great to see so many young people taking part and enjoying playing  - all nerves apparently gone after the first 5 minutes. We played as many games as possible in the time we had and the scores were worked out on a points system: 5 points for a win, 3 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss. At the end of the event, we tallied the scores and revealed the much anticipated results… Congratulations to Yealmpstone Farm who were our overall winners today. Well done as well to Bickleigh Down who scored the same amount of points but slightly less runs overall. A full table of results can be found below. Well done to all of our children who attended, I hope you enjoyed your experience and would be keen to play some more Cricket. I would like to say a huge thank you to the team of leaders for today – you did an amazing job girls and really made the event run smoothly – I couldn’t have done it without you. Looking forward to seeing you all at out next event at Tor Bridge High.
