Primary Inclusion Football 04.05.2022

Wednesday 04th May 2022 – The sun was shining on us today for our termly PSSP Primary and Special Schools Football festival. 5 teams came along this morning, representing their schools: Cann Bridge, Bickleigh Down, Holy Cross, Whitleigh and Oreston. We were thrilled to welcome a new school to the mix today – this was Whitleigh’s first time attending but hopefully they will be keen to come back. We play a round-robin style event for this one which means all of the schools get to play each other. 5 points are awarded for a win, 3 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss. Although schools are competing for points, the main focus for us today is to provide children with an opportunity to have some fun, be active and meet new people. As always, we were fortunate enough to have a superb group of sports leaders from Stoke Damerel on hand to referee and score all of our games: once again they did a fantastic job and really helped to make sure all of the children had a great time – thank you all so much. After a quick briefing we got underway and there were some closely contested games. Above all though, it was great to look around and see so many smiling faces, not least from the teachers! All of the teams played incredibly well and all told me how much fun they had this morning. At the end of the event, the scores were collated and our winners announced… Congratulations to Holy Cross who were our overall winners today. Bickleigh Down were a very close second and Cann Bridge were just behind them in third place. Well done to all of our teams today, you played incredibly well and there was some great Football being played. I really hope that you all enjoyed it and would be keen to come back again for another event. Thank you as well to all of the staff who brought their teams along again, hopefully you enjoyed it as much as I did. Our next one is on Wednesday 15th June 2022 – I look forward to seeing you all there.
