Spirit of the Games Value – Eco Friendly

Funding to Support Schools Celebrate the New School Games Spirit of the Games Value – Eco Friendly

Young People from across the Country have come together to create a new Spirit of the Games Value - Eco Friendly. This value encourages us to think more about the everyday choices we can all make to help the planet.

Active Devon and the Devon School Games Organisers are inviting schools to celebrate and live the new Eco Friendly Spirit of the Games Value by taking part in Naturally Healthy May 2022.

Naturally Healthy May is a Devon-wide campaign that is all about getting people outside, enjoying our amazing natural environment, and feeling happier and healthier for it.  With all the joys of Spring, May is a wonderful month to enjoy the beautiful green and blue spaces.

If you run a project, event, or activity during the month of May you can apply for up to £200 to support your costs through the Naturally Healthy May Activation Fund. We know it can be difficult, (and often time consuming), to find suitable activities, so we’ve put together some ideas for schools here

One idea is to run a clean through the national campaign Million Mile CleanBeach, street, river or mountain, the Million Mile Clean campaign is open to everyone, no matter where you live. Every piece of rubbish your school collect brings us one step closer to stopping plastic pollution and gives schools the opportunity to care for their planet whilst getting active in nature.

If you register your clean you get a free beach clean kit which provides equipment for up to 30 people and includes reusable gloves in a range of sizes, reusable rubbish sacks, a first aid kit, a sharps collection kit, and hand sanitizer. What a great way to promote the new Eco Friendly value!

Whatever project, event or activity you decide upon, you can apply for activation funding here to support your school to celebrate the new School Games Eco Friendly Spirit of the Games Value during Naturally Healthy May.

Please keep in touch and let us know your ideas or respond on our forum to share them with the wider school community. If you have any questions, you can contact us at [email protected].
