Widewell Level 1 Cross Country 22.11.2021

Even though it was absolutely freezing this morning, this did not stop our Y3/4/5/6 children taking part in the Level 1 House Cross Country competition.

Over the course of the morning we had 4 races: Y3/4 Boys; Y3/4 Girls; Y5/6 Boys and Y5/6 Girls. For the Y3/4 children the distance was close to ¾ of a mile and for the Y5/6, it was very nearly a full mile. Prior to the races, we discussed the importance of pacing in an endurance race and how we could use our self-belief and determination to make sure that we all finished. The cold weather was also going to be a challenge but everyone really dug deep and we had some great races.

Well done to everyone who took part today, I hope you are proud of yourselves because we are very proud of you! As each runner came over the finish line, they were allocated points based on their finishing position: so if they finished in 01st place, they received 1 point, if they finished in 11th place, they received 11 points. At the end of the morning, all the results were collated and the winning house was the one with the lowest score overall.

Huge congratulations to the top 3 children in each race – check out their names below. Congratulations to Jennycliff House who were the overall winners today. I hope you all enjoyed it today, I am looking forward to being back in soon for some more competitive fun.
