Primary Inclusion Football 10.11.2021

Wednesday 10th November – An incredible turn out for our PSSP Primary & Special Schools Football at Goals today. We were at capacity with 10 schools taking part from all across the city. Teams from Cann Bridge, Bickleigh Down, Prince Rock, Compton, Holy Cross, Old Priory, Elburton, St. Matthew’s, Victoria Road and St. George’s, all came along to take part in our friendly festival. At this event, we play a round-robin style format which means all of the schools get to play each other – this meant 9 games each today! 5 points are awarded for a win, 3 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss. Although schools are competing for points, we did discuss the fact that our main focus here today was to celebrate teamwork and just have a lot of fun. Many of the children taking part this morning were a little bit nervous as this was something completely new, but there were soon lots of smiles on the pitches as the children got into the games and got to know some of the other teams. After all the fun was done, we collated the scores and announced the winners (although we all agreed this was not the most important part). Congratulations to Victoria Road  who were our overall winners today and to St. George’s, who were a very close runner up. Full table of results below. Well done to everyone who took part, you all played brilliantly – I hope you had a lot of fun?! I would like to say a huge thank you to the Young Leaders from Stoke Damerel who did all of the refereeing today and much more – you were all brilliant and the children loved it so thank you. I am already looking forward to our next Inclusion Football event on Wednesday 12th January 2022 – see you there!
