Quicksticks 2021

For the first time in living memory, this year’s Quicksticks event was set to be dry and sunny which set the tune for the afternoon. This year we had a competitive round robin tournament in which every team played each other twice and also a non-competitive coaching opportunity for schools that wanted to learn skills and have fun as well as having some real game experience.

There was some great hockey to be seen throughout the afternoon and some very close games including some 0-0 draws! The games lasted for 10 minutes each so each team played a total of 60 minutes of hockey! Meanwhile at the coaching station children were learning passing techniques through games and were starting to learn shooting skills and how to tackle.

After all the games were played, the points were calculated and there was only 1 point between 1st and 2nd. Points were awarded as follows – Win (1 Point) Draw (2 Points) Loss (1 Point). Compton were the winners on the day with 17 points, huge congratulations to them. The final results can be seen below.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended the event including the participants, teachers and parents. A massive thank you to Devonport High School for Boys for supplying some fantastic leaders who did a great job at umpiring the games and also coaching the children.

Compton – 17 Points

Montpelier – 16 Points

Widey Court – 11 Points

Yealmpstone Farm – 6 Points
