Yealmpstone Farm Level 1 Y56 Dodgeball

Friday 26th March 2021 – We had so much fun this morning with our Y5 and Y6 level 1 Dodgeball competition. We started off with some friendly games to introduce the rules gradually and then played a round-robin event at the end. Dodgeball is not as straight forward as most people assume so it was interesting to see different tactics emerging when all the rules were in play. As well as learning new skills and rules, we discussed sportsmanship and what this means when games get competitive. With Dodgeball, there is so much happening that honesty needs to play a key part, so to encourage this further, extra points were awarded to anyone who clearly showed honesty – admitting when they were hit out/or if they dropped a catch for example. For this event, we awarded 5 points for a win, 3 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss. At the end of the morning, the scores were tallied, and the winners announced… Congratulations to ‘Plym’, who were the overall winners for both year groups so are our 2021, Y5/6 Dodgeball champions! Well done to everyone who took part today, I hope you enjoyed it and learned something new. I was so impressed with your sportsmanship - keep up the great work Yealmpstone Farm.
