Eggbuckland Vale New Age Kurling competition

23/03/2021 – Day 1: An exciting morning of activity today at Eggbuckland Vale as  we introduced Y5, Stingray class and Y4, Clownfish class to New Age Kurling. This target-based sport has been adapted from curling so that it can be played indoors on a flat surface.  As each group came along, we mixed them up into 4 teams so that they could work together to score points. In New Age Kurling, each player delivers a ‘stone’ towards the target at the other end by sliding it smoothly across the floor. The score is then determined by the number of stones closest to the centre of the target. Each team picked up the new game really quickly and soon started thinking about some tactics. At the end of the morning, we tallied up the scores and the winners were announced… Congratulations to the Green Team, who were the winners in Y5. We had a tie for first place for Y4, so congratulations to the Yellow and Blue teams. Today was round 1, so let’s see if the standings are changed at the end of tomorrow…

24/03/2021 – Day 2: Today it was down to Y6 Sharks and Y4 Seahorses. Y6 started us off and what a competitive group they were! There were some great tactics and so much friendly competition, it was great to see. Y4 were up next and they equally as competitive – it was looking like the scores were going to be close. Congratulations to the Green Team who were the winners for Y6, and to the Yellow Team for Y4.

Once all of the games were complete, it was time to look at all of the results and find our overall winning team for the Eggbuckland Vale New Age Kurling competition. Drum roll please…Congratulations Green Team! You are the 2021 New Age Kurling Champions for your school!
