School Swimming Statement from PCC

School Swimming Plymouth  2020/21

We hope this correspondence finds you well, in what must have been an extremely difficult academic term.

You may have read in the local press that good progress is being made with the refurbishment works at the Plymouth Life Centre and that in accordance with the national road map for reopening leisure facilities, the Plymouth pools will be begin to deliver the school swimming programme as follows;

• 19 April -  Plympton Swimming Pool
• 26 April -  Plymouth Life Centre

School Swimming Plympton Swimming Pool:

For those schools who ‘historically’ have accessed Plympton Swimming Pool for school swimming, the programme will recommence as per above. Schools will have received individual notification to this effect.    However should you require any further clarification please contact [email protected]

School Swimming Plymouth Life Centre:

The Plymouth Life Centre school swimming programme will now commence on  Monday 26thApril 2021.  The date previously announced was the 19thof April and schools booked in April will be notified to changes to their programme. We apologise for this change in date.

As previously outlined, priority will be given to those schools who sessions were cancelled in the summer term 2020.  However, we intend to increase the school lesson capacity, using a second pool in the short term at the Life Centre, to cater for as many schools as is reasonably practicable to do so (and in line with Covid 19 recommendations).  We are also reviewing the options for a summer Top Up Programme.

We appreciate that many schools may have registered for bookings and may not have received a reply. 

Everyone Active staff will be dealing with the bookings this week and you will be contacted by Friday 19th March 2021.

COVID-19

The Government continues to provide advice for the ‘safe delivery of sport’ and in line with Swim England recommendations for school swimming, local delivery plans have been established. Further information is included on the attached guidance notes.

Fees and charges

School fees and charges remain in line with the last academic year.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding, whilst the PLC has been temporarily closed.  We look forward to seeing you all in the summer term.
