What a fantastic start to the day! Sunshine, a dry field and 102 keen and eager children all ready to compete in the Sherford Vale Level 1 Cross Country competition.
After weeks of homeschooling it is important that we get the children participating and competing again - competition provides children with motivation to achieve a goal, demonstrate determination, perseverance to overcome a challenge and understand that hard work and commitment leads to greater chance of success.
It was clear that the pupils from Sherford were ready to compete so after a walk through the course the races started.
4 events were held - year 3/4 girls, year 3/4 boys, year 5/6 girls and year 5/6 boys. I saw some great performances from both the lead runners and the rest of the group who quickly found their pace and maintaned it throughout the race. Results are as follows:
Yr 3/4 Girls - 2 laps
Yr 3/4 Boys - 2 laps
Yr 5/6 Girls - 3 laps
Year 5/6 Boys - 3 laps
TEAM RESULTS
Year 3/4
Year 5/6
Special mention to Caiden and Oliver W for persevering when it got tough and to Finley and Ethan for their determination to complete the course!
Well done everyone!
Thanks to the staff and TA's for their help and to Claire Cormack for her is assistance in running this event!
