St. George's CofE Level 1 Boccia

25/02/2021 – A fun afternoon of activity today at St. George’s C of E Primary as the children were introduced to Boccia. Boccia is a Paralympic sport that is played from a seated position. It is a target game that involves accuracy and strategy and more importantly, is a lot of fun.  Starting with Reception, I introduced each group to the game with the basic rules and then we had some fun playing against each other. It was brilliant to see just how quickly all the children improved – their accuracy developed with each game we played. Towards the end of the afternoon, when it was the Y5/6 turn, we turned up the difficulty level somewhat to include more strategy and tactics (which also increased the level of competitiveness). We went through how to score properly and how to employ tactics to secure team victories. I had such a fun afternoon at St. George’s today – hopefully, all of the children enjoyed it too and would be keen to play Boccia again. I am looking forward to being in with you again next week for some New Age Kurling – see you then.
