St. Matthews' L1 New Age Kurling 14.12.2020

An exciting morning of sport at St. Matthews today; Y2 were introduced to the game of New Age Kurling.

This target-based sport has been adapted from curling so that it can be played indoors, on a flat surface. We began the session by learning the game and playing in small teams.

We discussed the importance of practicing anything new and soon discovered that the more we played, the more accurate we became in delivering our stones.

For the second part of the session, we played as individuals to become the ‘champion of the court’. Each person took their turn to deliver their stone to try to be the closest player to the centre of the target. The next person in the line then had to see if they could beat them – if they did, they then take their role as the champion.

Unfortunately, I did not come out as the champion as I was gloriously knocked off the top spot very quickly!

All in all, it was a very enjoyable way to spend our PE lesson – I hope you all enjoyed it too. I am looking forward to working with you all again in the New Year.
