Chaddlewood Primary Level 1 New Age Kurling

Week beginning 09 November 2020

Another exciting week of sport at Chaddlewood Primary: this week Y4 have been introduced to New Age Kurling. This target-based sport has been adapted from curling so that it can be played indoors, on a flat surface.

The Y4 children were competing in their House teams to win points. In New Age Kurling, each player delivers a ‘stone’ towards the target at the other end by sliding it smoothly across the floor. The score is then determined by the number of stones closest to the centre of the target.

Each team picked up the new game really quickly and soon started thinking about some tactics. At the end of the morning, the results were collated…Congratulations to the Green house, who were the overall winners for the Y4 competition. It was close at times with draws in two of the sessions. A full table of results can be found below.

Well done to everyone who took part, I really hope you enjoyed it. I would like to make a special mention to Braydon, Jess and Sophie who really impressed me with their sportsmanship and who received the School Games Value certificate for Respect – outstanding effort!
