Secondary Inclusive Football 11.03.2020

Our best ever turn out today for the PSSP Secondary Inclusive Football at Goals.

We had 9 teams along this morning, representing Cann Bridge, Hele's, St. Boniface, Plympton Academy, Sir John Hunt and Stoke Damerel. Over 50 students taking part in our fully inclusive event aimed at promoting the School Games values of Respect, Determination and Team Work.

This event is a round robin competition with 5 points being awarded for a win, 3 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss.

Although we do have a competitive element, this is not the focus for this festival. Everyone who takes part today receives a certificate and we do celebrate the winning team, but there is also a very special medal for one individual on every team for outstanding sportsmanship, respect and teamwork. The unenviable task of selecting just one student falls to the teachers – as much as they would like to give you all a medal, they have to choose just one. Well done if you were the worthy recipient this morning, you must have really impressed your teacher.

There was some excellent football played this morning and some great displays of respect and friendship. At the end of the morning, the scores were tallied, and the results calculated… Congratulations to Sir John Hunt, who were the overall winners today having won all of their games. Well done as well to the Hele's team who were only 4 points away in second place. Some of the games today were incredibly close and this meant that for some of the results, we needed to look at the number of goals scored in a game to determine the overall result.

Well done to everyone who played today, I hope you all enjoyed it! We were incredibly fortunate to have a great team of Young Leaders with us from Stoke Damerel – they did a fantastic job of setting up all of the games and refereeing – thank you all so much for helping to make this event such a huge success.

Our next event will take place on Wednesday 29th April 2020 when we will also be hosting a Devon FA Disability Talent ID event alongside our tournament. I look forward to seeing you all then.
