Tor Bridge Family Y1 Multi Skills 10.03.20

Another fantastic afternoon of sport at Tor Bridge High today: young leaders from our school hosted 5 primary school teams for our annual Y1 Multi Skills festival.

Teams from Bickleigh Down, Thornbury, Leigham, Widey Court and Widewell all came along to take part in our skills based competition.

The activities ranged from tests of skill and accuracy with the Bean Bag Throw; team events such as a Sprint Relay and Ladder Relay; speed and agility with the Speed Bounce and even a test of strength with the Chest Push challenge.

There was such a great atmosphere here this afternoon and it was fantastic to see so many children taking part and having fun. I would like to say a huge thank you to our team of young leaders, you really made this event so much fun for the children and made sure that this is an event that they will remember.

Thank you as well to all of the staff who brought their children along, it is good to see that you all have a healthy amount of competitive spirit! Every child that took part today received a certificate and the overall winning team received a special certificate.

Congratulations to Bickleigh Down who were our overall winners on the day, having accumulated the most points across the 5 scored events—they must have some super quick children as they scored the most in both the Sprint Relay and the Ladder Relay.

Congratulations as well to Thornbury who were hot on their heels in 2nd place and were the winners of the Bean Bag Throw challenge. A huge well done to all of the teams who took part today, we could see how hard you were all trying to get points for your teams and we were all very proud of you.

As well as competing for points for their team, there were some events where the children had the opportunity to compete for an individual medal. Congratulations to Evie from Bickleigh Down who won the medal for the girls in Speed Bounce and to Willis (Leigham) and Jacob (Widey Court) who both took the top spot for the boys. Maddie (Widey Court) was the highest scoring girl in the Chest Push and it was Frankie (Leigham) who won for the boys with a hugely impressive 6 meter throw. Tilly from Widewell won the Bean Bag Throw challenge and Mason (Thornbury) was the highest scoring boy in this event. Well done to all of our winners!

I really hope that everyone who took part today enjoyed themselves and would be keen to come back event to take part in more exciting competitions run by our great team of leaders.
