KS2 Handball Staff CPD - Tor Bridge

Another great staff PE CPD session at Tor Bridge High this afternoon. Teachers from Leigham Primary and Eggbuckland Vale came along to work with Scott Williams (Head of PE at Tor Bridge High) to look at skills and game play for delivering Handball to KS2.

After an introduction to the sport, Scott has us working on the passing skills needed and quickly progressed to passing and moving. All credit to the staff from both schools who really threw themselves in to the activity and picked up the skills really quickly.

As well as covering skills, Scott showed us how to set up various drills and gave us some fun challenges that would help children progress their own skills. The shooting element seemed to be a firm favourite and we had some fun trying to improve our accuracy with the promise of a prize for the first person to hit the cone. Then it was on to some game play.

It was a steep learning curve with some of the rules, but it was such great fun and everyone had clearly made such rapid progress, especially considering that handball was pretty much an un-known to most staff coming in to today. I would like to say a huge thank you to Scott for delivering such an enjoyable and informative session and I can’t wait to see these new skills put in to practice.
