SDCC Year 3 & 4 Football Festival 05.02.2020

Thank you to all the schools for attending the Y3 &4 Football festival at Stoke Damerel Community College. We were fortunate that the sun was shining which made for a great morning of football. Students from 9 different Primary schools took part in a round robin tournament, competing against all other schools. There were some fantastic football skills on display and it was great to see all teams showing excellent sportsmanship by shaking hands at the end of the matches!

In the girls’ competition, there were some really closely fought games between Stoke Damerel, Pilgrims, Montpelier and St Peter’s, however it was Bickleigh Down that led the way  by winning all of their matches and not conceding a goal!

In the boys’ competition, there were lots of matches that could have gone either way and the top 3 positions were only separated by 2 points! Bickleigh Down repeated their success in the girls’ competition by narrowly beating Leigham to the top spot by 1 point, despite a 0-0 draw between the two teams.

A massive well done to all the players that took part, it was great to see so many enthusiastic, hard-working students enjoying football.  Thanks also to the brilliant SDCC Sports Leaders that helped to set up, run the competitions and referee the matches.

Next festival at SDCC is the Y1 & 2 Multi-skills on Wednesday 11th March – sign up on the PSSP website.
