Secondary Inclusive Football 13.11.2019

Quite possibly our best ever PSSP Secondary Inclusive Football event to date! I have been completely overwhelmed with the level of sportsmanship and respect shown by all of the teams taking part today.

We had 8 teams overall representing Cann Bridge, St. Boniface, Stoke Damerel and Sir John Hunt. This event is a round robin competition with 5 points being awarded for a win, 3 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss.

Although this is a competitive event, we also take the opportunity to celebrate the School Games Values of Respect, Determination and Teamwork – and this was in abundance today.

Everyone who takes part receives a certificate but there is also a special medal awarded to one player on every team for demonstrating these excellent sportsmanship values. This is such a tough job for all of the teachers as they have so many worthy recipients to choose from and today this task was even harder. I wish I had enough medals to give you all one today as every single team showed all of the other teams such respect, regardless of age or ability: you made your teachers and me very proud today – well done everyone!

On top of all of this, there were some excellent games of football being played today. At the end of the morning, the scores were tallied, and the results calculated… Congratulations to Sir John Hunt ‘A’ team who were our overall winners today. Congratulations as well to Cann Bridge who were hot on their heels in second place – an amazing achievement – well done everyone.

Well done to everyone who played today – you really highlighted the power of sport for us all today and I really hope that you enjoyed playing as much as we did cheering you on.

Thank you once again to the brilliant Young Leaders from Stoke Damerel who did a great job refereeing and scoring and to all of the staff, who brought their teams along today. I am so excited about our next event already! Looking forward to seeing you all on Wednesday 22nd January 2020.
