Primary Inclusion Football 06.11.2019

Another fantastic PSSP Primary Inclusion Football event this morning with over 50 children taking part and enjoying being active. Teams from Montpelier, Leigham, Oreston, Prince Rock, St. Budeaux Foundation, Compton, Victoria Road and Cann Bridge all came along to Goals to take part in our friendly football festival which aims to celebrate the School games values of Respect, Determination and Self Belief.

This event is not only an opportunity to represent their schools and compete but we also use it as an opportunity to celebrate all of those outstanding sportsmanship qualities. In this competition, 5 points are allocated for a win, 3 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss. Everyone who takes part receives a certificate, but we also award a very special medal to an individual on every team; this unenviable task of selecting just one player falls to the teachers from each school – they are looking for some outstanding displays of sportsmanship.  Congratulations to all of our worthy recipients today – you must have done something extra special as your teachers always want to give their whole team a medal.

All in all, each team played 9 games today so plenty of opportunities for spectacular goals and outstanding saves. At the end of the event, the scores were calculated and the results announced. This job has never been so complicated before: we had 3 separate ties on points! In order to work out the final placings we needed to look back over the number of goals, not just scored but also conceded as the teams were so evenly matched.

A huge well done to Victoria Road who were the winners from today having taken the top spot by 1 goal. Well done as well to Montpelier who were hot on their heals in second place.

Well done to all of the teams today – you all played brilliantly, and I hope that you all enjoyed the event as much as we did.

I would like to say a huge thank you to our brilliant young leaders from Devonport High School for Girls who did a fantastic job refereeing and scoring – thank you all! I am looking forward to seeing you all again for our next event on Wednesday 15th January 2020.
