Plympton Family Cross Country 26.09.19

3 primary schools came along to Hele's this afternoon to take part in our friendly Cross Country event, designed to be a warm up event for the bigger, city wide event coming up later this term.

As well as showcasing the vast amount of talent that our young people have, this was an opportunity for us to celebrate one of the School Games values: Determination.

We had 56 children taking part this afternoon and every one of them was determined to do their best and finish the course.

It is quite a deceptive course and can be very challenging to complete the 2 laps but all of the runners went off quite quickly and were somehow able to maintain a great pace. Well done to every one of you—all of your teachers and family that came to cheer you on were so proud of you and they were great races to watch. As the runners came over the line they were given a place card and these were collated by their staff—the top 4 runners from all schools were counted and the school with the overall lowest score for the boys and girls were the winners.

Congratulations to Woodford Primary who were outstanding overall today, walking away with wins in all 4 categories: Y3/4 Girls; Y3/4 Boys; Y5/6 Girls and Y5/6 Boys. We all want to know what you all have for lunch in your school to create such great runners!

As well as competing for points for their teams, the 3 fastest girls and 3 fastest boys from each age group were awarded medals.  Congratulations to Sydney (Woodford), Elena (King’s) and Evie (King’s) who were the top 3 girls in the Y3/4 category and to Paycee (Woodford), Ben (Woodford) and William (King’s) who were the fastest 3 boys in this age group.

Congratulations as well to Sienna, Emily and Maisie (all from Woodford) who were the top 3 girls in the Y5/6 group and Lochlin (Woodford), Jacob (Yealmpstone Farm) and Riley (Woodford) who were the fastest 3 boys for Y5/6.

Well done to everyone who took part today—I really hope that you all enjoyed the event. I would like to say a huge thank you to our young leaders from Hele's who volunteered to be our marshals today.
